Motivations to learn mathematics

 

The point is that it might take several dives to hit a certain depth. It also has to be said that even if you don't get your hands on that mathematical treasure there are plenty of interesting fishes to look at. Very often in searching for one thing others are uncovered, so be prepared not only to stick to objectives, but to take advantage of opportunities too.

So mathematics is the ultimate in exploring and discovery, it's challenging and the path isn't always easy, but it's hard to imagine a more soul satisfying pursuit than mathematics.
